Come experience our version of fun on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
The summer of 2010 Gene and Scott decided to branch out from Cookman Avenue and be part of the redevelopment that has been happening on the Asbury Park boardwalk. Shelter Home’s second location is a mini version of the downtown store and is located in the Grand Arcade where the Asbury Park boardwalk passes through Convention Hall. The boardwalk store is about fun.
Think of it as Shelter Home Fun House.
Our first big seller was the family of Uglydolls with characters like Wage, Ox and Ice-Bat. Uglydolls come in all sizes, from small clip-on characters to larger plush, to pillows and even Uglydoll ceramic cookie jars.
Later we added Kidrobot which has great vinyl collectibles like Dunny and Labbit and unconventional plush like the popular YUMMY series which includes a plush curly French Fries and even a Shake Shack burger. And there’s the popular tokidoki which has a line of Unicornos, vinyl and plush unicorns. More recently we’ve added the Japanese kawaii blindbox Sonny Angel which customers have been quick to adore.
In the summer of 2013 we introduced t-shirts and hoodies. Featuring Asbury Park and our beloved, iconic Tillie, they are designed and printed in-house by us, the tees have become an instant favorite. We now collaborate with local artists such as Porkchop, James Vance, Bradley Hoffer, and our own Mike Woods to expand the line to incorporate the Asbury Park experience. All artists receive royalties for their collaborative work with Shelter Home – Fun House.
